2.        What are the degradable and non degradable wastes?
3.        What are the types of waste management?
4.        How de we convert the degradable wastes into manure?
Lesson Summary:
Wastes are unwanted materials either organic substances such as food wastes ,animal , fruit or vegetable residue, used up paper, plastics, leather, tins, cans, glass which are not required. The waste materials which are thrown out should be properly managed so as to avoid pollution and reinforce cleanliness around.
It is better to reduce the generation of waste, rather than taking the risk of managing the waste. This approach should be followed o minimize the environmental  pollution and to save economy.
Through this lesson, students study about waste management by field visits and conducting surveys. They become active participants in the learning process by exploring, discovering and presenting concepts by themselves. Students willbe introduced to the process of waste management and its uses through a creative Seminar and field trip. Following this, they are guided to create a multimedia presentation expressing the process of waste management through Vermiculture. They find some innovative ideas to produce Vermi worms in a large scale. They will also distribute brochure to the public to insist the importance of Vermiculture and is processing methods. They will give an application to the C.E.O. to send a circular to all the schools in their district. Further they will send an application form to our Education minister. President of India to tell about their project about global warming to the public and insist them to take immediate steps to produce Vermicomposed manure at all schools .  They will represent their findings through websites.

Student’s Project objectives:
 1.        To convert the degradable wastes into manure and keep our school campus clean.
2.        To give awareness to the public about Vermiculture
3.        To give awareness to  other school students.
The Student Multimedia objectives:

2)         know about the innovative methodss ofVermiculture
3)         collect datas and compare the awareness on waste management  to the public.
4)         give awareness to the public about Vermiculture
Student Publisher Objectives:
1)         Develop awareness of Vermiculture  and its preparation mehods to the public.
2)         Recognize the uses of Natural manure and its impacts.
Student Website Objectives:
1)         Recognize the vermiculture and its impacts.
2)         Understand the uses of Natural manure.
3)         Develop awareness of Vermiculture and its impacts to the public by uploading their project videos and stills.

Procedure:
First day,   Begin the lesson in the classroom with the question “What is meant by Land pollution? How do the scientific inventions pollute the earth?
We will go the Karthika Coir pith products factory to know about the waste management
We will go for a field visit to Vivekananda Kendra to know about the Vermiculture processing.
they  will meet Mr.s.Rajamony,NARDEP,Vivekananda Kendra to know about the vermiculture processes .
The students will take a survey on waste management in their streets.
Students will start to produce Vermicomposed manure at their school as well as their home and their streets.
Further, They will   give  an  application to the C.E.O. to send a circular to all the schools in their district .They will send an application form to our Education minister & the President of India to tell about their project about Vermiculture and its uses to the public and insist them to take immediate steps to prepare vermin composed manure.
They will represent their findings through two websites (www.smrvvermiculture.nexo.com, http://www.studentsprojectssmrvhss.blogspot.com,www.projectdirt.com/profile/smrvhssstudents) and also discuss the process of Vermiculture and its uses. They have created e-mail addresses students.smrvhss@gmail.com  They will send a news letter to the magazines to publish their efforts to keep the earth clean.
The findings of the students will be presented in the form of a multimedia presentation.
Give detailed guidelines and copies of evaluation rubrics for the student multimedia presentation.
The students are given an outline of the technology-based assignments  about the waste management using Vermiculture .
The teacher shows students some samples of multimedia presentations.  A copy of the evaluation rubric is handed to the group leaders and the important criteria on which the students would be evaluated  are   explained. The students are then given time to prepare the assignment about  waste management and its uses .
